October is Here Tomorrow...

But before October arrives, I want to say a Very Happy Birthday to our Josh...31 years and 19 minutes ago Josh made his appearance. What a great kid he was and what a great dad he has become...we are very proud parents...We love you son!

October...now how can that be? What happened to September? I have a finish...you've seen this along the way...but I'm very happy to say...it's quilted, binding's on, it's washed and hanging...my Web Sampler... I know I complained about this...but I have to tell you...I LOVE it! Thankfully I remembered to throw a Shout Color Catcher sheet in the washing machine...here's a before and after sheet... Oh my...if all that red had ended up on the light part of that quilt...I can't even think about it. Love those sheets.

I got a new favorite thing this weekend...lots of you probably already have one...I'm a little slow...I've seen them, thought about it, and decided this weekend that I just had to have one...The Bendable Light...
Probably the best $49.95 I've ever spent...WOWSER! It's awesome!

I spent some time with my friend Jeanne this weekend and we did some project planning...Jeanne had this top finished and I flipped over it...it's called Sunshine and Shade.... it's on my list of Must Do's...

Off to finish binding on a Halloween quilt that I did last year right after Halloween, so I'd be ready for this year...better get stitchin'.

  1. Okay you must tell me what the name of that thing is that makes you sew the hst's without marking! I thought about that at breakfast this morning sitting in my dining nook trying to decide what small quilt block to make for halloween...then I remembered this tool.

Love the bendy light too. I have two big ones that do the trick for me. You know I always stick 2 of those dye catchers in when I wash a quilt, call me crazy I don't want to tempt fate. I bet both would have been red! best invention ever!
Your quilt turned out so wonderful that's an heirloom quilt if I ever saw one!

  3. Lucky you to get a bendable light. My friend has one, but she put it on the machine so it will shine down from the back of the machine. Hmmmm....I wonder which way is better? Wish I could find one on sale somewhere. Your new quilt is awesome! And I've never heard of the color thingy before - I'll have to check those out!

  7. Carol your quilt is stunning - I so wish I had a rail to hand quilts on but then I'd have to climb the stairs and that wouldn't be fun. :) I love my bendable light - particularly at night. blessings, marlene

  15. WOW!!! I absolutely LOVE your Web Sampler quilt, Carol. It turned out to be a stunning quilt. Now I can't wait to get mine finished. Thanks for the idea about the Color Catcher - I never would have thought of that! I'm pretty new to the "no prewash" camp. I sure don't want that red running into my backgrounds!

  18. Love the quilts! That color catcher comparison is amazing. Two of the quilty peeps bought those lights when we were all in Chicago and they say the same thing that you do about them!

  22. I finally located my missing Web Sampler and think I am going to bite the bullet and do the same miserable borders that you struggled with. Your quilt turned out simply great. And thank you so much for the dryer sheet tip!

  23. Oh, Carol - this quilt is just spectacular! Adore the colors - makes me think of chocolate covered cherries. Those were my dad's favorite candy, and I always bought him a box every Christmas. They were on sale then for not much, and the price fit my allowance-dictated budget! I'm so glad you finished this in time to display it for the holidays.

  32. Your web sampler quilt turned out great! And Jeanne's quilt with all the triangles looks really good. Sometimes it's hard to make all those little triangles fit.
I will have to check out those little lights. Wonder if it puts out as much light as the big bendable office lamp I use. Would like to get that thing off my sewing table.
