What do you do when it's hot, hot, hot? Well, I SEW, SEW, SEW! And that's what I did today...we had 105 degree heat index again today...I think they said it's been like that for 15 of the last 19 days...it's absolutely CRAZY! I've lived here, in this same area for the past 44 years...I have never experienced a summer like this one has been...but on the positive side, I'm getting a lot of sewing done. I turned the A/C down a couple of degrees, turned up the ceiling fan and off I went.
This month's Designer BOM was a lot of fun...

...this is going to be one great quilt!
I finished my Nine Patches for the exchange...

...I had the best time making these...picking combinations of fabrics was my favorite part...Thank you Julie for coming up with this wonderful exchange.
I also got all the pieces and parts done for Plan C...I have it all laid out on my design floor...that's the project for tomorrow...hopefully I'll be back here tomorrow night with a picture!
I can't believe I'm watching Preseason Football tonight...where in the world did the summer go?
Your nine patches look great. So does your Designer Mystery block. Two things I still need to do. I know all too well about extreme heat. That's what I do too, stay indoors in the A/C.
ReplyDeleteYour work is wonderful. Thank you for sharing, my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting!
I love those nine patches...The Bom project is sewing up well. You are going to want it out long after Christmas ;)
ReplyDeleteYou will just have to move to Nova Scotia.. I had to wear a light cardigan today the breeze was a bit too "tingy" for short sleeves. I love you blocks. I was wondering what the Mystery block was because mine isn't in yet.(Snail Mail)Your nine patches are gorgeous too
ReplyDeleteDid sewing the wreath make you feel cooler?
ReplyDeleteJust Say No. To preseason football LOL! That heat sounds awful -- I hope you're managing to stay nice and cool!
ReplyDeleteAck - that is HOT! This has been a hot summer, but after last year's cold one it's ok with me.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are gorgeous - enjoy your sewing!
Love your nine patches. It's been HOT, HOT, HOT, here, too. Ugh! The A/C is my best friend. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the designer block of the month block and your 9-patches. As for the heat, thank heavens we haven't had anything like that. When it gets to 80 I think it's hot. Mind you, we don't have air-con in our houses in the UK.
ReplyDeleteCute nine patches! I was going to get caught up on my 12 days BOM yesterday...I had cut all my pieces for block 2 right before I hurt my neck. I ended up spending like an hour searching for my directions...never did find them. Then I said to heck with it and went to bed with my book lol! This months wreath looks like a quick one--I am loving these blocks so far!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Christmas BOM and your 9-patches are so warm and cozy. I know from personal experience that humidity is worse that dry heat no matter what the temperature. Sewing is a great way to deal with the heat. :o) When Mr. Creations retires we're moving back to the west coast so we can watch football before 9 PM!
ReplyDeleteI love that wreath block, Carol! As for the heat---welllll, I've never known a summer like this one either.
ReplyDeleteThe wreath block is so festive! It's nice to get so much done, esp when it's so hot!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it should be hot more often - look at all that progress you made.
ReplyDeleteWhen hubby was down in the City yesterday, the truck read 115 degrees, ridiculously hot. Up here we were low 90's.
You're right - HOT HOT HOT, SEW SEW SEW...I like how you think.
Your nine patches are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how fast summer has sped by either. I don't even remember the 1st of August, it feels so long ago.
I need to get going on my Christmas blocks. They look so pretty in the pkg. lol
ReplyDeleteI can vouch for you. it is hot hot hot there. Man oh man......who knew?? I hope it cools off soon for you guys.
Can't wait to see Plan C.
ReplyDeleteYup, we watched the Panthers lose last night to the Jets. Remember, with the onset of football comes cooler weather! I just have to keep reminding myself of that!!
ReplyDeleteyour 9-patches look wonderful! I can't wait for the exchange!
ReplyDeleteI like your problem solving solution! Hot, hot , hot - sew, sew, sew! :)
ReplyDeleteThe BOM is adorable!
Happy sewing!
Zlaty
I really like your 9 patch blocks. Boy I think the whole US is just waiting for fall to arrive.
ReplyDeleteWay too hot here too...I love your nine patches so much!!
ReplyDeleteLove those blocks - espcially the wreath! I hope it cools off for you soon - or maybe not since you're getting lots of sewing in LOL!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have AC. Great work on the blocks.
ReplyDeleteGreat 9 patches! I like looking at everyone's blocks and seeing the fabric they picked out. I like the greens you have found!
ReplyDeleteI've lived here all my life, which is quite a while, and this is the hottest summer I can remember. (north central alabama). I cam remember hot spells where temps would be high 90s to 100+ for a week or two. But this year, we had 50 days when the temps never got under 90. And the humidity was smothering. Things have cooled down some now though. I can feel autumn in the air.
