How happy am I? VERY! Civil War Tribute is done

...need to get the back put together so I can get it to the quilter for her to work her magic. I really am thrilled beyond words to have this finished.
I decided to join in and do the blocks that
Barbara Brackman is posting on her blog every Saturday...I've decided to do mine in red, cream, gold and blue and they'll become quilts for soldiers. I'm having lots of fun with them...great blocks. These are the first two

and then last Saturday the block was an applique block...couldn't bring myself to do the applique so after chatting with my friend Jeanne, she came up with this great block

. Barbara's block was Seven Sisters...we only have four...but I really like it.
These are my newest chocolate addiction

...OMG, these are incredible. I used to love those chocolate covered cherries in the Whitman's Sampler box...these have the same flavor just don't have the gooey syrupy stuff inside and they don't have the cherry but they sure have the cherry flavor. They jumped right into my cart in Target...I may have to go back for another bag.
I just have to share these 2 pictures from our trip to Birmingham...they truly are my favorites...Hampton and Grandy watching the Cars DVD on my laptop...

...they were so intent. And my mom reading to Camden

...Camden loves her Nana!
Here's one of the things I worked on today

...I love these blocks for the Designer BOM...this is going to be the cutest quilt.
CWT is beautiful! Doesn't feel good to have that done?? I wish mine was even close to that. I think I feel good when I stay away from it, actually! LOL! The photos are darling. I can see why they are some of your favorites!

ReplyDeleteSweet pictures of the little people in your life.
Love the little house - need to get mine together.
You know that song that has a line that goes "wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then"? Wish I didn't know about those Dove chocolates! Good thing it's way too cold here to drive to Target!
ReplyDeleteYour CWT is beautiful, and your grandchildren are darling.
That quilt is amazing :) I love it! I'll have to check out those Dove Chocolates the next time I'm at Target, which I'm sure will be soon :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been busy Carol. I just saw that civil war site for the first time yesterday -- it looks like a wonderful project. Love the B'ham pics!

ReplyDeleteCarol you should be happy, that quilt is just gorgeous!! I can't wait to see it quilted and bound.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks, and the colors. I'm sure whoever receives them will love them. And oh Carol how could you show that candy, lol - I have no chocolate in the house - maybe I can find some chocolate frosting. Looks like I'll have to go out tomorrow and get some!

YIPEEEEEE, looks great with the borders. It's so wonderful to see those pictures of your sweet family. I can't believe how big your grandkids are.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the finish of your Civil War Tribute! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt. A big pat on the back to you. My son is going in the Army in March. I have a special place for all military men and women because I come from a family of military men. I'm very interested in the quilts for soldiers project as I'd love to be involved in something like that. I do know there are organizations throughout the different services but I haven't fully investigated them yet. Oh and that house is as cute as can be.
ReplyDeleteWell I must tell you along with all else...your CW quilt is STUNNING! Absolutely STUNNING and so well worth all the work and hours you had to of put into it.
ReplyDeleteDid you replace your iron?
the quilt is stunning-your grandkids are so cute! I like your alternate to the applique CW blocks too
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Civil War Tribute quilt...and the FQS BOM too--every block is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteYour CWT looks wonderful! I have my blocks spread out on the floor waiting to be put together. I like the idea of leaving off that last hst border...I don't think it really needs it. My husband walked in while I was laying the quit out and he couldn't believe how big this quilt is.
ReplyDeleteA fun photo collage of life. :)
ReplyDeleteCarol your quilt is absolutly beautiful.....
ReplyDeleteAnd the picture of your mom is so precious! Grand-dad too....
I am really enjoying the mystery BOM from Fat Quarters. I decided I do not need anothee Christmas quilt so I am goign to make my blocks into placemats.
Your Civil War quilt is beautiful. What a lot of work, but a fabulous result.
