Please Send a Good Thought...

to my mom...we got her into the hospital yesterday.  She fought it tooth and nail, but it's where she need to be.  She's been feeling pretty lousy for a couple of weeks...just not herself...well I finally got her over to the doctor where she lives and he confirmed exactly what I thought...she has pneumonia.  Then they also did blood work and found that she is incredibly anemic...so after waiting most of the day yesterday for a bed in the hospital, I got her in there at 3:30 and we saw the doctor at 5:30.  She'll be getting a transfusion, and IV antibiotics...he said she should start feeling better this morning.  If all goes as planned she should be home before the weekend...so I'll be missing for a few days...I'll check in when I can.

Thank you all!

  10. Oooh, I'm sorry to hear about your mom Carol -- sending speedy get well wishes your way. She'll feel so much better if they get her anemia taken care of -- I didn't know it, but they can give you iron intravenously -- it makes a HUGE difference!

  11. Oh Carol, I so sorry your mom is suffering with pneumonia and very glad that you finally got her into the hospital. I know what it is like to fight a loved one who digs in their heels and says..."I don't need to go, I'll be fine right here". Of course, I have a little of that in myself I guess, don't we all? Anyway, she is being well looked after now and I hope she will be feeling better in record time. I will be keeping her, as well as you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted on how she is doing when you have the time. Sending Big Hugs and Warm thoughts, God Bless...

  19. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I know how exhausting that whole process can be, and it will be for a while yet. I'm always surprised how long it takes an older person to recover.

  42. I hope my favorite reading buddy is on the mend as I write this "feel better soon" note. I'll keep your mom and you in my thoughts. Sometimes, we are sicker than we realize so it's good that your mom has you to see the difference between a minor cold with fatigue and a serious illness.
