I was Pooped!

Thursday, Friday and Saturday were Florida's Statewide Shop Hop...we had tons of fun and met lots of really nice gals from all over the state...but I'm very sad to say, "I'm getting old"...I was pooped. We had to have the shop open 9 to 5 all three days...we usually open at 10 and on Saturday we close at 4...extra hours and lots of visitors to the shop...tons of fun...but I was pooped...have I already said that :) Didn't sew a bit until Sunday...I started my "Road Less Traveled" by Lori Smith blocks...it was so fun...small and lots of pieces...it's like putting a puzzle together. I was about to start sewing a second block from that row and we started getting a thunderstorm...YIKES! We have thunder and lightning like I haven't seen for a really long time...the power went out several times...but before that happened I had unplugged my Bernina...it's an old 1230, but it's my baby...if anything happened to it I just don't know what I'd do. I then went downstairs, I figured I was safer there, and finished the first block of Cheri Saffiote's Christmas Quilt. I needleturned but I think I'm going to switch to a small hand button hole stitch. It will be more primitive and that's the look I want

So when you look at these 2 blocks, you are seeing the true me...2 opposite ends of the spectrum...Have a wonderful day!

What fabulous blocks! And although the techniques are opposite, you've stuck to the colors that make you happy! They're wonderful!

The blocks are just gorgeous. Funny that you have the same spectrum as I have. Oooh - I wish your shop was closer *s8

Oh they are both wonderful! I've been wanting to do road less traveled but just have not found the time. Maybe I need a good kick! And I love that xmas pattern too, another one I"ve been dieing to buy and do!

I love both ends of the spectrum of you. =) The shop hop sounds like great fun, and I wish I could have done it.

You've described Lori Smith's patterns perfectly - small blocks with lots and lots of pieces. For those of us who enjoy a piecing challenge they are just the ticket. I so enjoyed doing Heirloom Stitches, and I can hardly wait to do another. I probably should do the border on Heirloom Stitches first, though, don't you think?

Now Carol, I had no idea you had a blog! I found out this weekend about it when Libby mentioned it. I even went looking and didn't find one.

I did the same thing on the tree block. I needleturned it and then started the next ones with a button hole stitch and liked that better. SO I'm going to go back over my tree with butttonhole stitch.

Looks fabulous! Good luck with the Road blocks. I have one and a half rows done and sort of petered out. They are very small pieces and it can overwhelm for a while, but I'll go back!
