I've Commited to Bust the Stash

My stash has grown to the point where it is just out of control...I still like most of what's there...I cleared out a bunch a few years ago when we moved so I'm happy with what I have, I just have TOO much. So at first I thought I could do it on my own, then I thought "Are you nuts?"...I haven't been able to do it up until now. I read Judy L's blog about stash busting and decided that was the answer. For some reason I had it in my head that if I committed to this I would never be able to buy another piece of fabric and I could only use what I had...WRONG!!!!! That's not it at all. So I'm very happy to report my first week has been a success.

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 0 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 2.75yards
Fabric Used Year to Date: 2.75yards

OK...now don't laugh...it's not a lot, but it's a start...and I used more than I brought in. YIPPEE!
This is going to be a very good year.

I've been trying to get motivated to "bust the stash" but can't seem to...guess I really am a fabric addict!

2.75 yards is off to a good start! You have such beautiful fabric that I am sure that you will have lots of fun using it this year! Cheers! -Evelyn

I think 2.75 yards is a great start. Your only 4 days into the year. at that rate you will use over 250 yards. WOW! Now that is a stash buster.

yes thats my goal this year too.
My thoughts are first to shop my fabric collection to make a quilt, if I need to add something to make the quilt work then I go buy it.
Buying just cause I like it is no longer go to happen.
I also gave a way a lot of fabric the past few years so what I have I LOVE. now on though what I don't like will become a pieced back or in my donation quilts I make.

good luck with your goal!

You are off with a running start....I've committed to use two old piecees of fabric when ever I start a new project. My stash isn't that big, but needs rotating and I'm wayy too sentimental to through anything way.

Yes my stash is really out of control and my sewing room needs caution tape. I do giveaway throughout the year to a wonderful lady who makes charity quilts. My goal is to only purchase what I need to finish a project and only to buy new fabric that really WOWs me. I'm afraid I may be in trouble. Good luck!

Good for you!! I have got to go sign up and get my post done. I haven't done any sewing yet this year and I used a gift certificate at Rosie's so I am NOT off to a good start lol!

I just can't bust the stash. I think I quilt because I LOVE fabric!

No no--you can BUY fabric, you just have to use more than you buy. Okay, we HOPE we use more than we buy! Tell me about the sewing machine on your header. (I collect old machines)

Oooh...this is no fun! Why on earth would a quilter want to bust a stash?

Good for you. I just cannot bring myself to admit I love to buy fabric, lol. I do need to do something and I am trying, but I don't want to shame myself by failing. So, I will root for all of you that are trying.
