3 Books and 3 Blocks

I'm back...I know you're surprised because this doesn't happen often...I'll try to be better. I got my Designer BOM block and my Simply Sophisticated blocks done today. This is month 10 of Simply Sophisticated...I can't wait to see what The Fat Quarter Shop has in store for us when it comes time to put this together...we're almost done!

Part of what I love about our week at the beach is that we have time to read and read and read. The first book I read at the beach was The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Society...what a wonderful book...very well written...a story that I really had no idea had happened...very enlightening. It wasn't mom's favorite...I really liked it. Not particularly light beach reading but a very good read.

The second book was Summer on Blossom Street ...this was more of a beach read...very light, very quick read (I finished it in a little over a day) and very good. I really enjoyed it. As mom said...it was a very nice story.

The third book I finished was The Help...this was by far the best book I've read in a long time. It was one of those books that I was very sad when it was finished. Oh I didn't want it to be finished. Again not a light beach read, but an outstanding book. Makes you think!

Love the blocks!!!

I cannot go to sleep at night unless I read for a bit and some of my favorites are Debbie Macomber's books. Wonderfully light - a breath of fresh air.

Must comment on blocks first...bravo! Secondly, I guess I'm going to have to check out Debbie Macomber's books as I see several bloggers have been reading hers. I'll tell mom about "The Help"...she has started reading alot since dad's passing. It is nice for me to pass her good reviews. Thanks!

Nice blocks, it will be fun to see them all together. Looks like 3 good books, sounds like a very nice time with mom. My mom would love "The Help" book, she puts me to shame with her reading.

Your blocks look wonderful! You are really staying up with the Glace' ones. I just got my block the other day.
Thank you for the suggestions on books. I really prefer "heavy" books so the last one really appealed to me. Our library has 100 holds on it so it is very popular! May need to part with some cold hard cash for it! LOL

Thanks for the feedback on The Help. I've got that on my reading list but haven't hit the "buy" button. This helps!

Happy Day to you my friend, Happy day!

Good for you getting your mystery BOM month done too. Don't forget to post a comment on Vicky's blog for your entry for the gift certificate. I loved the Summer on Blossom Street book. I read it very fast too, love how Debbie Macomber writes. Haven't read those other two books though. Right now I'm reading Midnight Sons Volume Two by Debbie Macomber, it's very good.

I loved the Guernsey book and I have The Help on my reading list (which seems to be growing faster than my pile of unfinished projects!) Nothing like good reading and good stitching.

Your blocks look great, I can't believe it's already month 10 of the SS blocks, it seems like yesterday I was debating whether or not to do it lol!! I almost started The Help last night after finishing Case Histories...I have a first edition so I'm debating waiting for the paperback so I keep it pristine condition...but it's sooo tempting and now, after that review, I may not hold out lol!!

Love the blocks Carol - so pretty. Reading before I go to bed usually slows my brain down so I can shut down for the night. Need to check a couple of those books out.

Hugs- Karen

The Help was one of the best books I've read this year. I hemhawed about The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Society, but based on your recommendation I'll go ahead and order it up on Kindle.

Your blocks are great!! Wanta do mine? ;)

Oh, good to see your book report! I read the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society early this summer and loved it! Then I ordered and received The Help, but I haven't read it yet--now you make me want to get started! Thanks!
