They're Calling for Snow and Sleet

Yes you read that right...and yes I do live in Florida. Now it's certainly not going to be a significant amount of snow, we'll probably have to be standing out in the middle of the yard when the flurries come, but it's snow none the less. I've lived here for 43 years and can't think of too many times that the weatherman has "Snow and sleet in the forecast for tomorrow"...crazy, crazy!

We had the most wonderful visit in Birmingham with the kids...very relaxed, never had to be anywhere at any special time, just lots of good time with the children. Mom had the best time...Little Miss Camden liked mom the best...she wanted mom to play with her and feed her...she liked Grandy almost as much...they had lots of staring contests...she loved sitting with him...look at that static in her hair, what a hoot. She would sit with me if her Nana and Grandy weren't available...Hampton was another story...he and I spent lots of time playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading books, and playing with Thomas and his friends...oh he loves those trains...he's developed quite a sense of humor and had us laughing all the time. Couldn't have been more fun and I can't wait to get back there.

When we got back, and I had a chance to get caught up on blogs I read about a wonderful group on Emily's blog ...Cancer Is Sew Done...a virtual quilting bee...they are asking for blocks, they provide the pattern on their site, sew whatever you want and they put the quilts together and the quilts are auctioned. I did 4 blocks to send them on Wednesday...I've decided that every Wednesday is going to be my day to sew for charity...there are so many people in need and my family and I are so blessed to have good health...I feel like I want to give back.

Before I went away I played Holly Jolly Blog Bingo on The Quilt Shoppe's blog...I won this wonderful little MODA box...squares of 3 Sister's Aster Manor and
Holly Taylor's Migration. What a wonderful prize...thank you so much.

I'm heading to bed so I can get up nice and early in the morning to watch for the snow...I have my camera ready...if it happens I'll be back with pictures tomorrow.

What cute little grandkids you have. I'm sooo jealous. I love her little glasses. Does she wear them all the time Carol? She is adorable. Hampton looked pretty busy over there playing.
I hope you dont get too much snow. You probably won't. So dont go falling into the snow pretending to do an angel. That hard ground hurts. lolol

This is a win win post. Grand babies and a fabric win all at the same time?! And now you are having a day of sewing for charity quilts, too? Land sakes but you are a busy girl. Hope the cold doesn't go any deeper and further harm the fruit crops out there. Make sure your outdoor water faucets don't have hoses connected to them if it gets real cold, they could freeze up and burst!

I remember being at Disneyworld in April back in 1975 and it was in the low 40's that day. It can get very cold in Florida.

Grandkids are the best, and MAKE Christmas. Yes, have the camera ready for those snow flurries. We feel almost the same way here. We get maybe two or three days a year where we might get enough snow to stick on the ground for a few hours.

We had about 15 minutes of sleet this afternoon when we were in Merritt Island. I think Florida has somehow gotten moved up the map. I am tired of this cold weather!

I really hope you don't get the snow or worse freezing rain. Stay inside, keep warm and sew! Love the pics from the visit to see the grandkids, my boys loved Thomas too!

WHAT? Snow in FL? I'm amazed - please do take pics, lol! Sounds like all the snowbirds might be heading north!

Awww, your g-kids are ADORABLE! My oldest watched Thomas so much, when Ringo was narrator, he developed a pronounced British accent.

What a good idea to dedicate a day a week to sew for charity - and I love your win, yay for you! Please stay warm, Carol!

Oh, look at those charmers! They are adorable - I love the way Camden and Grandy stare at each other. That's so cute. And, Hampton is so handsome.

Oh they're so cute! Yes I'm finally trying to catch up on a little blog reading...mostly just reading and not commenting or I'd never catch up, but I had to comment when I saw these cute pics. My sister had glasses very young also and Camden's picture reminds me so much of her (I'm nine years older). Looks like you had a wonderful time!
