Hope everyone had a wonderful first day of spring and a great National Quilting Day. Today was the most spectacular day we've had. The sun was out all day, not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky, just about perfect. We had all the windows open in the house today...listening to the birds chirping in the trees.
Here's a little hint I learned from the gals I went on retreat with back in January...I thought I had shared this when I got back and then I was looking at some old posts and realized I hadn't done it. This is just a piece of that rubbery shelf liner...cut a small piece and just lay it on the bed of your machine...the perfect place for your scissors, they don't slide and I always know where they are.
Spent some time at my machine today and got my Designer BOM block done...this is Block 10...only 2 more to go...I keep saying I need to start putting the finishing kit together so I'm ready to put the quilt together when the last block arrives. Better make that a priority...the last block will be here before I blink.
This little form arrived in our mailbox yesterday...I think I spent about 3 minutes filling it out this morning and into the mail it went. It's quick, it's easy, and it's important.
I've been glued to NCAA Men's Basketball...WOW! don't think I've ever seen so many huge upsets...I'll be on the couch tomorrow hand stitching binding down on the baby quilt I finished...I need to stitch fast...the baby came early and arrived yesterday morning...2 weeks early and everything is great. She's beautiful and healthy...and mom's doing well too...now just need to do my job. Enjoy your Sunday!

Great tip for my scissors on the bed of my machine - they are always there but get knocked down. I'll have to try your tip.
Love the block!
Didn't anyone tell that baby that the quilt wasn't ready yet. LOL
thanks for the tip, will try it...I'm always feeling around for mine. Love the designer BOM, can't wait to see how it comes together!
Now that is a 5 Star Tip! I'll be using that one. Thanks for sharing. I'll use that for the care and safety of my stiletto tool. I'm always worried the four-footer's will somehow find that favorite tool and I'll be forever broken-hearted since I'm often leaving it right there where you show the scissors. ...and you know how you get attached to a tool. I've had this one since I started sewing and I just can't imagine life without it. The wooden handle has turned color from the oil in my hand and... well I'll stop. We don't have to worry now.
Can't leave without a shout out to your fabulous block with that precise piecing. Love that!
Count me in on the Census. I don't think I really understand why it's a problem but I don't really pay attention to that stuff anyway. I just go with the flow. Gotta fill out the Census. 3 minutes. Not nearly as painful as my blasted taxes!!!
Nice tip Miss Carol. I've put that stuff under my little Janome to stop it from sliding across the table at class. It really works.
I need to work on my BOM from uhhhhh two years ago maybe. lol
Dont ya just love babies?? There so sweet and smell sooo good. Well most of the time they do. lol
And we have some snow tonight, lol. I hope you enjoyed your warm day!
Good hint, I'll have to remember that. I spent the ENTIRE day at my machine. Our local PBS had Sewing With Nancy and Georgia Bonesteel on all day - it was heaven.
Love your block! Congrats on getting the baby quilt done, it's always harder when they come early - glad she's healthy!
I cant believe we are up to block 10! I need to finish mine this arvo. Better get my quilting mojo back before its time to finish the BOM otherwise Im going to have four quits in the to-quilt pile!
Great tip. Looks like you've been keeping busy with some fun things.

Like the scissor idea, and love the block. The fabric is very pretty. Thank you for sharing.
cute block, great tip and yes the census form went back in the mail box the next day
very easy and important to do....
good luck with the binding today, thats the fun part in mho and knowing its almost done well always makes me happy
Great tip and I love that BOM block. Really cute.
We are enjoying having the windows open here in AZ too, but I've had to break out the Sudafed as a result. A worthwhile trade for sure to get the fresh air in the house.
I love the designer block you did. The colors are so pretty and it really sings "spring"!
What a nice tip. And what a lovely block...very pretty. :) We've filled out our census, too!
I need to find that Census survey, it came in the mail and I put it someplace where I wouldn't forget about it, but I did, until now!
I think this is the first Designer block with no bold red or brown, a nice change of pace. You're doing great staying on track each month.
Thanks for the tip, not only will it keep my scissors in place, it will remind me to put them in the same place, a huge plus in itself!
Birds are up and chirping here this morning, but it's cold, they must not mind.
Awesome tip! I am headed to the kitchen right now to make mine.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend...it is raining here AGAIN!
Just got an email that Olde Green Cupboard is closing its store! I am totally bummed!
We had a beautiful first day of spring as well. Thanks for the great tip to keep scissors in place, so simple.
Our census form arrived, too. I always look forward to filling it out - feels like I'm part of something important (doesn't take much for me *s*)
I think I need to lay a piece of that rubbery mat stuff on my little sewing table I use while doing hand stitching. The scissors fall off three or four times each day.
I love the fabrics in your beautiful block! And thanks for the great tip...my sewing table can use that :-)
What a pretty block...I need to pull out my last years mystery bom and get finished with it! Got my census form last week and like you had it back in the mail in minutes, sooo simple! Great tip for the scissors, I have a bunch of that stuff somewhere....
Oooh, that little block is so pretty -- love it Carol!
I've used a small piece of the rubber stuff under a pincushion to keep it from walking away. Great idea for the scissors too.
Go Ohio State!
Hi Carol. You're going to love this. I use that "rubbery" stuff right beside my sewing machine. I keep my "little gadgets" on it.
I thought I was "Miss Cool" doing this - BUT WHY - have I never put it on my sewing machine arm so my awl or scissors don't slide? So much for me being "Miss Cool"....more like "Miss DUH"...LOL
I hear you about the finishing kit. I keep telling myself I need to do that and it still sits neatly wrapped up still.
What a great tip to keep your scissors in place. I have some of that mat stuff in my closet - I will have to try it, and then maybe my little clippers won't keep ending up in the trash!
Thanks for the tip, that stuff is great under the machine foot too but I never thought of your idea, it'll probably save me from dropping them on the floor. Love your block and how good is having babies in the family, the bestest!
Great tip - thanks for sharing! Your block looks great, too! Glad to hear mom and baby are doing well!
Great tip and great block #10. I haven't started #1 yet! I purchased the finishing kit too. I'm glad I did it because if I'd waited until I had the blocks completed it would be gone.
