Happy Surprise...Thank you Thelma

Thelma over at Cupcakes 'n Daisies did a wonderful post about Belle Meade by Bonnie Blue quilts...she and Nicole decided to work on this one together and invited anyone to work along with them. Well, I was so excited...I had started this quilt last year and then put it away......what a happy, happy surprise when I unearthed it...all 42 of the blocks were DONE......YIPPEE! and tucked right there with the blocks was the piece of fabric for the setting triangles...what in the world was I thinking? Why did I get all those blocks done? Why did I stop when I was on the home stretch? I have absolutely no idea...I don't remember what happened. But thanks to Thelma, I searched for it and I finished the top......my first finish on my new machine! Howie wandered into the picture and got his feelings hurt when I told him I was going to delete the picture because Mr. Quilt Holder had the left corner a little crinkled...so here you go Howie...don't tell Zack you are on the blog today!

Thank you Thelma and Nicole...Blogland is the BEST!!!!!!!!

Quilt blocks always have several names. I think this is one of my favorites--or real close to it--- The North Wind Block...I love this...Really scrappy. The pup makes the quilt....

Love the Belle Meade!! Isn't it funny how we find projects and don't remember how far along they were. You had a great surprise by being far along and now it's done! Wonderful!

Are you kidding me? You forgot about those blocks? I'm laughing, but I know it can happen. Once I discovered a box with about 500 red and white half square triangles in it that I had made and lost track of.
Your Belle Meade quilt is gorgeous! I made 40 hsts yesterday, so am up to about 120.

That is one amazing quilt! What a perfect project for that new machine! Not much of a sew along though, you win, you're done first! What an inspiration it is to see your finished Belle Meade. I've heard from several quilters that they have either started and not finished or have an unopened the kit for Belle Meade. You've shown us all that it's worth the effort. I'm up to 155 hst units, 501 to go!!

Oh Carol - I love your Bennington Quilt - what a great gift! And, the Fa La La La fabric is perfect. And, this quilt is a beauty too! I think maybe we just get tired of projects and need a break to work on something else -- maybe?? Anyhoo - it's lovely!!!
