Always Learning...

No matter how old I get, I can always learn something. I am very excited...I've been doing the BOM from Country Loft and this month's section was 3 snail's trails and the directions that came with it said PAPER PIECE...Yikes...I've done it before, but just a little tiny bit and with supervision from someone that knew what they were doing. Here I am in my sewing room all by myself. Never fear...Nancy to the rescue! I saw on Nancy's blog that she was working on her blocks...I commented, she e-mailed me and offered to help. She sent me step by step pictures with written directions...it was wonderful! I took my laptop to my sewing machine and worked step by step, all afternoon yesterday and managed to get one done. I e-mailed Nancy, and she shared in my excitement. She assured me that I would get the other 2 done much more quickly...and again she was absolutely right. A little over an hour...I got the 2 blocks done, the sashings sewn on and the blocks sewn together. Thank you Nancy! I couldn't have done it without you!

Wow, it has been a while since I have been on your blog. I have some catching up to do. I have always liked those blocks and I would think paper piecing would be the way to make those. I like your blocks.

I too, have only done paper piecing once before and with supervision. There are some quilts I am getting ready to work on that require it and it scares me. I will have to check out this Nancy you speak of!

Your blocks are adorable! They look hard:)

So cute. I tend to shy away from paper piecing too. The fabric colors are wonderful.

Great Job, I love paper piecing, the blocks always come out perfect.

I saw the Civil War Tribute quilt for the first time in person today, WOW, it's something. Up to this point I had only seen a picture, and it was more of a cartoon as opposed to an actual finished quilt. That's going to be something!

Isn't it just wonderful to have blogging quilters like Nancy to help us out?! Really nice that she walked you through this block. I've never done a Snail Trail ~ paper piecing and I are not friends, let me tell you, I could tell you some stories. Some quilters just love paper piecing. I guess they "get it" and now you do, too. :-D

I love these!!! Great job. I love the colors. Paper piecing.... I don't like pulling the papers out. I think I'm about to try a wool piecing BOM. Still deciding. I like having a finish a month.

I enjoy paper piecing and don't know why I don't do it more often. I don't know if you saw a post I did a few ago when I was at Jo club. But did you see my friend Shirley's top that was all hand pieced?! OMG...gorgeous....she took it everywhere with her and says it has over 30,000 miles. Hee!
Things are looking better at Amazing Race!! :-)

Very pretty colors. I've done snails trail before but never paper pieced them.

Yay, you did it and it looks great. I love the colours in the blocks a lot.

You must have had some very good directions to be able to do the paper piecing without someone right there with you. You did a good job.

Those are so pretty Carol! I love it that you're still learning - and if I ever try paper piecing, I'm going to give you a shout!

Paper piecing can cause quilting dyslexia. I always have to do a test block to sort out all my issues *s* Looks like you've done a great job!

You did an awesome job!!! Isn't Nancy great with the helpfulness? That's how she was when I was doing my Square Dance quilt!

It is so funny that I read this post this morning, as I woke up thinking about doing a minature quilt in the snail's trail fashion, and there you are with your colorful example. They look great!
