A Little Jelly Roll and A Tagalong

Here I am again...by the hair on my chinny, chin, chin...A Year of Schnibbles...Tagalong...finished today...April 30th...how in the world did that happen. Tomorrow is May! YIKES! A big Thank you to Sherri and Sinta...you all have done a wonderful job motivating us to get these Schnibbles done. I've had Schnibble patterns since Carrie first started doing them...I always liked them but unfortunately never got to them...then along came A Year of Schnibbles and I jumped right on. It's been so much fun! Looking forward to which one you all pick for May.

Monday the new Jelly Roll Sampler block came out...this was a really fun one...went together very nicely. And that's the hydrangea on my front porch. I need to get it planted in the ground...just need to pick the right spot.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Charming Girl goals that I finished in April. Hmmm, I wonder if I finished everything...

I'm Ready for the Last Block!

I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! Can you tell I'm singing? This was one of my Charming Girls goals for April and I couldn't be happier that I got it done. The finishing kit for the Designer BOM from The Fat Quarter Shop...it's finished as far as I can finish it until that last block arrives. The skinny blue border isn't sewn yet...I can't do that until the bottom row is sewn on...and then there's one more wide border...but those will go on pretty fast. The pattern was great...all those sashings and stars all went together absolutely perfectly. I can't tell you that it went together quickly, but it sure went together easily...Thank you Fat Quarter Shop for this wonderful quilt. Can't wait for the new one to start.

Jelly Roll Block 4- Check

I've been sewing like a wild woman this afternoon...I checked some things off my to do list...here's Block 4 of the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along. I was really struggling with this block, just couldn't come up with a color combination or color placement...but then Carol came to the rescue...she posted her block and I had an Aha moment...the light bulb went on...thanks so much Carol for the inspiration. It's not my favorite block, but I'm pleased with it.

I need to hop off here...my Orlando Magic are in the NBA playoffs and the game's almost over...they've let it get too close...I have to pay attention and yell loud enough for them to hear me. Have a good evening!

Always Learning...

No matter how old I get, I can always learn something. I am very excited...I've been doing the BOM from Country Loft and this month's section was 3 snail's trails and the directions that came with it said PAPER PIECE...Yikes...I've done it before, but just a little tiny bit and with supervision from someone that knew what they were doing. Here I am in my sewing room all by myself. Never fear...Nancy to the rescue! I saw on Nancy's blog that she was working on her blocks...I commented, she e-mailed me and offered to help. She sent me step by step pictures with written directions...it was wonderful! I took my laptop to my sewing machine and worked step by step, all afternoon yesterday and managed to get one done. I e-mailed Nancy, and she shared in my excitement. She assured me that I would get the other 2 done much more quickly...and again she was absolutely right. A little over an hour...I got the 2 blocks done, the sashings sewn on and the blocks sewn together. Thank you Nancy! I couldn't have done it without you!

April Charming Goals

I'm going to try and keep my goals simple this month...lots of bits and pieces that need to be done...
Goal 1...The Civil War Tribute BOM blocks...there are 6 that need to be done this month.
Goal 2...Probably 2 Jelly Roll Sampler blocks
Goal 3...The Country Loft BOM block...it has some paper piecing...that make me very nervous.
Goal 4...My Year of Shcnibbles quilt...Tagalong
Goal 5...Cut and sew the finishing kit for the Designer BOM
Goal 6...Block 11 of the Designer BOM
Goal 7...Do at least 2 more quilts for Mountain Baby Blankets.

OK now since there is already one week gone in April...I'd better get to stitchin'...have a good month!

The Shuttle Took Off

The Space Shuttle Discovery took off on Monday morning just before 6:30 and it was an incredible sight. I don't know if it's because there are only a few more of these to go up, but I think this was the most spectacular one I've ever seen. The sky was soooooooo clear and the humidity was very low. We're about 60 miles from the Cape and my little point and shoot isn't all that fancy but we were on our front porch anyway. This one was just as it cleared the trees...just after I took this one, we heard a very loud rumble...it was like a sonic boom that just kept going. They said because the air was so clear we were able to hear it...that was a first. There were places around Orlando that the windows shook...it was amazing. Quite a way to start the week!

Happy Easter and Happy Birthday!

A very Happy Easter to all of you and a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Mom! Mom's 88 today and very sharp, most days she remembers better than I do...and she certainly has more energy!
She truly is amazing! Enjoy the day!
