Happy and Sad...At the Same Time

That describes me perfectly today...happy mom is doing soooooooooooooooo much better.  She's getting stronger, and she's eating well.  The doctor's appointment went well on Monday...her blood work is good, he was pleased.  He set up an appointment for her next week with a Hematologist...he wants an opinion from him on why her hemoglobin went so incredibly low.  He feels like the  Hematologist will probably put her on a medication that will help her bone marrow produce more red blood cells.  So Happy I am!

I also finished a Nice People Nice Things blocks
this week...I really am enjoying these blocks...So again Happy I am.

This morning I went to the Hospice Care Center to see Jami...Thom and I talked late yesterday and her said that she hadn't eaten or had anything to drink since day before yesterday...so I headed over this morning.  She was very restless and agitated when I got there, but she knew I was there.  I told her how much I loved her and she said "I love you too"...then she went off to sleep...thankfully the drugs kicked in and she was without pain.  I held her hand and stroked her hair, whispered in her ear...I told her that there were ladies waiting to learn to quilt...they're waiting for her.  I selfishly was hanging on to her, today as I sat there I prayed that God would take her home.  So Sad I am.

I will continue to pray for Jami. That is heartbreaking, but I pray that she will not suffer any more pain. It wrenches the heart to see our loved ones go on.

Oh Carol, I'm so sad for your friend and for your sadness. It's so hard to let go of someone we love. Hugs and prayers for you, Jami, and Thom.

I know how you feel Carol. My BFF lost her battle with cancer 7 years ago. I sat with her the day before she left us, and talked to her just like you did to Jami. It's so hard to let them go. But I know that my friend is out of pain and at peace with Jesus and walking the streets of gold.

What a sweet blessing for you to have that time with Jami. When she's gone, you can remember that last time as a tender mercy.

Oh, Carol, this brought tears to my eyes. It reminds me so of my last visit with my dear friend who died in May. She was able to say "I love you" and one other sentence before the pain meds took over. I just sat and held her hand and talked of all my favorite memories of our times together. I had been praying for her to live, but her daughter had said, "I'm praying for what's best for Mom." I was properly schooled, and prayed for her release from pain. I miss her terribly, but am so glad she is no longer suffering.
God bless you!

Carol, The news about you mom is wonderful. Things finally going in the right direction. So glad you have that news to be happy about and can relax a bit between her doctor appointments.

I will still be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers, including Jami.
Big Hugs...

I'm glad to hear that your Mom is doing well, but I'm sorry to hear about Jami. I'm certain that your presence and friendship a comfort to her. When my Daddy passed away, our daughter spoke at his service and one of the things she said was that, "Although we grieve that he is gone, in heaven they celebrate and say 'He is here!" It brought me comfort then and I just shared it with a friend who is also grieving. I hope it will bring you some peace as well. Continued prayers.

So sad about Jami. I had a friend who died of cancer almost a year ago and it was awful, just awful to watch. He was only 42 years old. Just remember all of your good times with Jami - she sounds like such a wonderful person.
Glad your mom is doing so much better. Prayers to you all!

I'm so very happy to hear that your mom is doing so much better, and truly sorry about Jami. Strange some things can be so great and others so sad at the same time. I do so love your "Love" block - very sweet!!

When we have someone leaving us it hurts bad for everyone. Knowing soon they will no longer be in pain helps, but only just a bit. Please tell others about her accomplishments, and what kind of person she was when she was in good health. It will help you and others too.
Hang in there...Karencg
