Wish I Could Say...

that I've been on cruise to an exotic country, an African safari, a ski trip to Colorado...something exciting...but I can't...I've been right here at home...not a thing out of the ordinary going on.  Happy news this morning...we had Howie at the vet on Monday morning, she wanted to run a senior panel (bloodwork) on him, since he's 10 1/2...they just called a few minutes and my boy is PERFECT!  We are so excited...we did find out on Monday when we were there that he's gained 5 pounds in 4 short months...oh dear...guess we've been spoiling him just a bit too much...or the vet tech that weighed him in January made a mistake...that's Howie's story and he's sticking to it.

I have been sewing and having fun...Temecula Quilt Company's Monthly Mini for April...

these were some teeny blocks...so much fun!  Sure makes me pay attention to my piecing.

Got my Hat Trick

done for Another Year of Schnibbles: Vintage Schnibbles...I added some blocks to it to make it a bit bigger...it's made from Paris Flea Market and will be going to a sweet new baby girl in October.  Dear, dear friends of Josh and Katie will be having their first baby in October...she just had to have a quilt.  Sorry for the not so good picture...we were getting ready to have a storm and I had to get the pic taken so I could get it off to my quilter...I'll take a better picture of it after the binding is on.

I've been lusting after this quilt every time I see these blocks posted on blogs...so I got the pattern and made my first block...

Crossroads by Geoff's Mom Pattern Co....it's a big block...15"finished...I'm using stash and having a blast.  I'll be doing a block a month.

We've been watching this water bird all week...

it's an anhinga...we've had these in the pond for all the years we've lived here...they swim around, they dive under water on one side of the pond and come up on the other side of the pond...this guy has discovered that if he stands on the fountain he can stay nice and cool and wet...everyone on our circle is talking about this funny fella.

And if you're not fond of snakes, close your eyes and scroll down for a minute...my neighbor was walking by out front with her labradoodle puppy and she came upon this brightly colored guy...

she said she backed up and came across the grass to my front door...I went out and took a look...he's just a corn snake...I gave him a push to send him on his way...sadly he didn't move...something had gotten him...we had to have a burial.

Have a wonderful day...do something today that makes you really happy!

Wow Carol! You have been busy, busy...I wish I had. I've been laid up with health issues, BUT...my grandson has been here for the last two weeks visiting and that made my entire world bright and wonderful. So no sewing, but lots of family love, joy and laughter. He and his NEW Fiance came over 4 times for dinner and two days to just hang out and enjoy. The grandson gathered his best friend, the newly graduated Marine along with the Marine's dad and they got the pool table moved back to the center of the room that was my old sewing room downstairs. It was pushed up against the wall while I was down there. After the table was leveled and ready, the pool games commenced. I held the table for six game, then my body said enough and left the hubby and grandson downstairs and came us to sit in my favorite stitching chair and just listened to the laughter and fun going on down there and that was as much fun, maybe more, than being down there with them. From the look on hubby's face and the grin on grandson's face it was easy to see who was victorious, LOL. Anyway, that's what's going on in my world. But I plan to get back in the sewing room today and just work on some rather mindless sewing for some fabric therapy. So I'd best quit rambling and get busy. Big hugs to you and some special scratches to sweet Howie from me...
***so sad about the corn snake, what a beautiful creature they are. He must have been discovered by a dog or cat. Poor thing. We have garter snakes in our yard a lot...I just run them back into the garden spot and let them work there magic on the pests. More hugs...

I scrolled so fast by the snake story that I forgot what else I saw. Yes, I am terrified of them! Thankfully they are not around where I live, otherwise a move may be in order. LOL

What an adorable baby quilt. You are going to make someone very happy with that.

I adore your mini from Temecula. I still have several packs from over a year ago that I need to make before I justify signing up again. She picks the cutest things as soon as I am not a member.

Of course I love that Crossroads block. I am still waiting for HH to get mine sent. It doesn't look like it is coming before the end of them month. :(

You have been busy creating! I love the Temecula mini, I still have mine at home in the cute brown bag she sends them in, I need to make it! I have been so obsessed with working on Dear Jane I haven't wanted to do anything else. I am still waiting for Homestead Hearth to send our installment of Crossroads, doesn't look like it's going to be before the end of the month at the rate they're going.

Good news about Howie!
Such a cute Temecula mini, Carol. And what a sweet little baby quilt.
I LOVE the Crossroads block. I had forgotten about it. I've seen it on a blog or two and drooled! Now you have reminded me how much I wanted to do this one.
We have water snakes in our yard--they aren't as pretty as the corn snake. And my sister won't step into my grass because of them. : )

You are certainly staying busy with your sewing projects! Love, love, love the Crossroads block... your fabric selection is fantastic! Enjoyed all your pictures... well, maybe not the snake! How nice of you to give it a proper burial! Hurray for Howie! A clean bill of health!

Yay for Howie--I bet the scale was off in January. Love your Hat Trick. Paris Flea Market is still one of my favorite Moda lines. Happy sewing!

Great projects and wonderful start on your block and Hat Trick too. You have been tearing it up! (in a good way) I am looking forward to doing something creative AFTER I get off of work today. Something to look forward to anyway!

Staying home and getting things done is so great! You've made great strides.

Tell Howie that one of the best things about being a dog is that, if you gain weight, you can blame it on someone else! Lola is a little "big boned" too. She's 13 and Charlie is 15. They eat the same thing and Lola is almost twice as big. I know the vets don't believe me...

Thanks for sharing! I always love seeing your work!

Three cheers for Howie AND his folks for taking care of him. The little pieces are awesome. It's a great chance to practice the skills-----great points.

Remember that 70's song: I don't like spiders and snakes? I think I would be freaking out about the snake too. It's all what you get used to. I no longer scream when I see a scorpion, still hate them. I just get the fly swatter and beat the heck out of it. I really like your Hat Trick with more blocks. It's awesome with Paris Flea Market fabric. You've been very productive in the sewing room. Glad your doggie got a clean bill of health.

Good news about Howie! Millie had a blood test yesterday too...still waiting for results but they think she might have a kidney problem.

Everything looks great! Well, except for the snake. Sorry to hear he didn't make it.

Yay -- Howie is healthy! Maybe he's just not getting as much exercise as he used to? Your little quilts are all so pretty -- such precise piecing!

So glad to hear about Howie. Don't we all gain a few pounds as we get older? LOL But - I'll lay odds that previous visit to the vets was wrong....hehehe

Oh my, what fun, wonderful projects, Carol! Such a cute baby quilt. That Temecula mini is so, so, so nice!

You have been a very productive woman! Hugs.

OK.....had to go back and reread your post after seeing the snake...YIKES!!! Great, great news about Howie. Wonderful projects you have going. I am still holding out hope I can get my Charming mini done and Hat Trick!

All of your projects are so beautifully done. Thank you for your kind comment about my first Schnibbles quilt. I hope to make something with Paris Flea soon. We don't have many snakes to worry about around here but we do have rather large spiders that visit our home too often.

Nothing out of the ordinary say you, but sheer beauty non-the-less say I!
Glad to hear your senior buddy got a good report! Mine needs ultrasound :-(
But his bloodwork was good for him, so I'm happy about that. Another thing that makes me happy is that I do NOT encounter snakes like that! Almost screamed like a little girl lol!
Have a great weekend!!

Your little Temecula quilts is darling! And I LOVE the Geoff's Mom quilt you are doing. I saw the original in a shop in Utah a couple years ago. Awesome!
