Here I Am

Here I am...back to the world again...I think. Andy had surgery on his shoulder last Monday so I've been staying pretty close to him all week. Ice compression machine on his shoulder on 30 minutes off 30 minutes for the first 3 days and pretty regularly since then. He's doing great...we're both very pleased with his progress. He's gotten lots of range of motion back already. We go back to the doctor on Wednesday morning...hopefully he'll be as pleased as we are. Not much sewing going on here...well machine sewing. While sitting on the couch near Andy, so I could get what he needed, I stitched down the binding on 2 quilts...the graduation quilt for my friend Carol Ann's son and for the springy quilt I did last year and just never got the binding done. I'm happy to say that it's done and on the guest room bed.

I prepped a block from Cherie Saffiote's Chritmas quilt before Andy's surgery and I got it done. I must confess I took the easy route and did it with wool...
I figured at the speed that I applique, that if I want this quilt be some Christmas in the near future, I'd better do something to make it quicker.

Saturday night I couldn't sleep so I went upstairs and worked on some Civil War Love Letter blocks...

The purple and gold one is Fight Like a Man...the black and green one is Privledge of Communication and the brown and red one is At Last a Free Man.

That's what I got done while taking care of my man. Yesterday after having brunch with my Mother and visiting for a while we came home and I headed upstairs...while we were at Mom's Andy got a text message from the fella that used to work for him that I'm making the 30's pinwheel like quilt that I showed a while ago. I've had a plan that I'd have it pieced by the first of June and then off to the quilter...the baby was due June 28th...I was in great shape...right on schedule. Well you guessed it...little Miss Kara Lyn was born yesterday morning at 7:54...she's tiny 3 pounds 5 ounces...so my schedule just went into overdrive...we are having marathon sewing here, in between getting Andy iced down. My friend Jeanne assured me that she wouldn't be needing this big quilt for the floor quite yet, so no need to make myself crazy...I'm trying to remain calm. LOL!

The kids sent me the most wonderful gift for Mother's Day...a digital photo key chain. It's just like the digital picture frames just small. Josh loaded 20 pictures of Hampton on it for me and there's room for 42 more pictures. I can change them or add to them whenever I want. I'll leave you with a picture of my little man...he was enjoying a day at the park.
Oh I can't wait to get my hugs and kisses. I'll be heading up to Birmingham in mid June to help them move into their house. Well, I must confess, I really going to play with Hampton, not to help move. Isn't that what grandma's are for? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

That Hampton is the man alright! He has grown but I guess that is what babies are meant to do.
Your Civil War blocks look good. How big of a quilt do you want to make?
