I'm Better :)
I feel so much better today...thank you all so much for your words of encouragement...I don't usually whine quite that much but it was beyond frustrating to be home and get nothing done. I had a great day today...no naps...I got the 3 blocks done for the shop Block of the Month (nothing like getting done at the very last minute...I have to hang them up in the morning)...I sewed binding on a quilt that Andy is giving to a charity auction, and I did one of the little log cabins that I saw on Tracey's blog (thee handworks)...I loved that little log cabin and there will be lots more of those...won't use much stash but they sure are fun. I even got pictures taken today. Some day I'll figure out how to get the pictures where I want them, but for right now I'm just happy to get them there at all. Hope everyone had a great day.

Feeling YUCKY!
I just hate it...I started feeling icky on Sunday afternoon, by Monday morning it was full blown YUCK. All those days that I've said, "Oh if I could just stay home"...well here I am home again for the second day in a row and I haven't made it up the stairs. I tried yesterday and made it half way up, came back down and went to bed for 2 more hours...I'd already slept 3 hours in the morning. I'm going to try again today. I have tons I want to do and this would be the perfect time to do it. I'll post again this afternoon if I get anything done...I'll even post pictures. Hopefully. Hope you all are having a great day!

Weekend in New York
Oh my goodness...Andy and I just had the most wonderful weekend in New York. We went with very good friends and just had the best time. We walked a zillion miles, rode the Circle Line tour boat around New York, took the subway to Ground Zero and the Empire State building, took a tour or Radio City Music Hall...side note...that tour was absolutely fascinating. I had been to the Christmas show there several times when I was a kid so to go back and see all the behind the scenes stuff was just great. Saturday night we had tickets for "The Jersey Boys"
...the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Needless to say, I knew every word of every song they sang and could very easily have stayed for 3 more hours listening to them sing. We had dinner 2 nights at 2 great restaurants. I ate more than I've eaten in probably 2 weeks put together. The diet resumes again tonight.
Off to do some more laundry and cook some dinner...vacation is OVER...back to the shop tomorrow...back to the normal routine...back to sewing!

Change is in the Air
I can't believe that I haven't posted in a week...things have been a bit crazy around here. We have just taken a huge step, one that many of you have already taken...Andy is going to retire on April 12th. After 35 years of working for the Walt Disney Company he's hanging it up. We are very excited but have spent many, many hours talking about options for pension, insurance, working part time as a consultant...it just goes on and on. We know that we're making the right decision, but WOW it's a bit scary also. Andy will be 58 in April...the stress of his job has increased tremendously over the past couple of years and we want to be able to enjoy his retirement years. So we are truly excited! I'm keeping the shop, I'm not ready to give that up. I just have way too much fun.
We were laughing this morning about how social we've been since the beginning of the year. Now you must understand we don't usually do much of anything. We are happy to just be home. Since Jan I've seen "Lion King", gone to Chicago for a week, we saw Jimmy Buffet this past Thursday night and this Friday we're going to New York for a long weekend to see "The Jersey Boys" and spend the weekend with Andy's best friend and his girlfriend.
So needless to say, I haven't gotten much sewing done here this week. I'm working on Judy L's Hour a Day project and took her challenge for February as well. I'm using 3 pieces of fabric in the project that I've had in my stash forever and didn't want to cut into because I love them. Well, I decided if I loved them so much, they'd all go in the same quilt. I'm thrilled to be using them...they will be great.
OK, I'm getting off the computer and going upstairs to sew for a while. Enjoy your Sunday!

Relay for Life Quilt
I am so excited to be able to post this picture...this is the quilt that I was working on a while ago for the Relay for Life for Andy's office's team to auction to raise money. The pattern is from the Buggy Barn book Around the Bend...there were days that I really didn't think I'd ever get this done, but I knew it was for a good cause so I got it done. Since I made the commitment to do it, one of Andy's employees was diagnosed with cancer, so it HAD to be done. I e-mailed Judy L and told her about the quilt top and she said she'd be glad to quilt it for me. Well, Judy worked her magic...she quilted it with a wonderful heart panto in a pale yellow thread and it is just beautiful. The binding is on, Andy is figuring out what he wants on the label...he's taking it into the office in the morning. I hope they like it.
