Slow But Sure

That's my motto...Slow but Sure...for sewing and weight loss...let's start with Loser Monday for the Diet Challenge 2009...1.5 pounds gone this week...it's truly amazing that just a 4 pound loss has made a difference...my jeans almost stayed zipped and the button doesn't look like it's going to fly across the room. YIPPEE! Again, a BIG Thank you to our fearless leader Sharon for keeping us on track...it's so much easier to behave when you're accountable.

I've been sewing but don't have a lot to show for my labors...I have 3 baby quilts to get done by the end of May...here's the beginning of the first one...this one is for a baby boy...from the Sleepytime line of fabric by Lori Gardner for MODA...I'm using jelly rolls for this one.I have lots of block sections done...I've been using them for leaders/enders...but I just had to put a few blocks together...needed to see some progress.

I've always loved Cheri Saffiote's book 301 Christmas Blocks...I'm doing 2 blocks a month...it will take a while but I'll have a wonderful Christmas quilt...These are fun, they're small...I can prep them and they can go with me.

Now, totally not weight or sewing related...my boys...as you may have heard it was a little nippy here last week...low 40's/upper 30's...OK don't laugh, that's a little nippy for us...well as you can tell, the boys thought it was a bit chilly too. They were sleeping together on one bed, all snuggled together...Andy and I were in the living room watching TV with the fireplace on...I moved one of their beds in front of the fireplace and they both got on it...so out came the other one...they were so happy. All you dogs in the frozen north, please don't laugh at my wimpy boys...they're Florida dogs...LOL!

Andy snapped this picture just a few minutes ago...they sure love each other! He said they were both sound asleep until they heard the camera. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone got along so well?

Are you enlarging the Cheri patterns or using as they come from the book. If enlarging, what percentage? I have the book and have been wanting to make some of the blocks.
I will be receiving "The Christmas List" pattern soon. Ordered it Saturday. Have you made any of the blocks yet?

Oh your babies are sweet. I had a couple of laps that loved each other like that. I've had other dogs but none of them cuddled the way my labs and your guys do.

Lots to comment on today but I wanted to stick with your blocks. You're piecing is always so perfect. I was whipping out some 9patches today and thought "I really would like this to come out nice and flat like Carol's" but of course they didn't. I had you on my mind though.

Woohoo! You are on your way to a NEW you!

I am also interested in that Cheri book. I saw it at the quilt store but I wasn't sure what to do with the blocks. Do you enlarge them? Are you just picking ones that you like and sewing them together?

Have a good week!

Congrats on the weight loss. You're doing great. The quilt blocks look great. Can't wait to see the finished products. And the pics of the dogs are great. We've got a St. Bernard here in Texas and he acts like he's gonna' die if he has to be outside for 5 WHOLE minutes. lol

Your boys are so cute. Molly has been swimming at the beach today ... having a big snooze and dry off on the deck now. Your baby blocks are very sweet ... I need to use some jelly rolls too. You certainly will have a lovely Christmas quilt.

Low 40's upper 30's is shorts weather here! Would love some of that temperature about now. My progress on everything seems slow right now too and I need to get started on new quilts for my grandson's new room he'll be moving into when his baby sister or brother arrive this summer. Work is getting in the way lately.

I love, love, love that Cheri book - 2009 is going to be the year I make a quilt from it. Just a few at a time is the perfect solution *s*
Could those pups be any sweeter?

Your furbabies are so cute! I have a golden that loves when it is bitterly cold outside. I quess it is a novelty for him. He drives us crazy because he keeps wanting to go outside and sit on the deck.

Great photos of the snuggly dogs. I wish I was on a fluffy bed in front of a fire too. It's cold here in Atlanta today.

Great job on the weight loss! The blocks are all looking very cute!! This month has felt like quicksand to me and slow is the only thing going right now. Better than not moving at all I guess!

Love the puppies and yes I agree that the 40's is cold for us down here in Florida. Congrats on the loss this week!

I love that Sleepytime fabric -- I can't wait to see those finished quilts. And I'm sorry, but I DID laugh at your wimpy cold syndrome -- you need to come and visit us -- we'll knock that wimpy stuff right out of you!!!

I like your plan of making two Cheri blocks a month. I wonder, like Karen, if you are doing them the book size or enlarging? I made a few last year and had such fun--I need to make more!

The boys are totally adorable, and I don't think they're wimpy at all! My girls love to lie in front of the fireplace. They lie so close to it, I'm afraid they get roasted!
Your baby quilt blocks are just too cute. I love Cheri Saffiote Payne's quilts, and the blocks you've made are perfect. I tried to purchase that book, but they were sold out. Dang! I'm still hoping to find it somewhere.

Oh I like those blocks. Now I wish I would have bought this line in the roll vs. 2 charm packs. Keep up on the challenge, we Losers have to stick together!
