NO Sewing Today

Not one bit...not one stitch...didn't even make it upstairs. When we were having coffee this morning My Man decided that today was the day to trim the 11 oak trees around our house. They are probably 4-1/2 years old and we've trimmed them every year trying to get them into a nice shape...I think this is the last year that we'll be doing this. We trimmed up enough from the under side so that no more branches are hanging over either the sidewalk or the street. Here's what we ended up with after working for about 5 hours...we ended up with all of these bundles of limbs and branches plus several bags of little pieces...we have to bundle everything up for the garbage men or they won't take it...no branches longer than 6 feet...no bundles over 20 pounds...and after all our work I don't want them to leave anything behind.

So tomorrow, you'll find my upstairs sewing away...I hope...unless My Man gets another idea.

I've Been Sewing

I've been a busy girl the past couple of days...I've gotten all caught up on a BOM that I'm getting from Homestead Hearth...the pattern is "Sadie's Sampler" by Lori Smith. I'm loving this pattern and Homestead Hearth's fabric selection is just wonderful.

Here's a little over half of Little Miss' quilt...I have it all cut and all the 4 patches done...I just need to get the rows finished...here are 10 rows...8 to go. This is a great pattern and really shows off this fun Swanky fabric. It's called Paisley Party by Liz Lois and Terry Atkinson and is on the Red Rooster Fabrics website...I'm thinking I should be able to get it done in the next few days.

I'll be back soon with the other baby quilt that I finished...I'm putting the binding on...better go get to work.

I had a very fun time this week...I went to my friend Jeanne's for a quilter's sleepover and we sewed and laughed...we had decided that we were going to do a FUN project...Miss Rosie's Tuffet's... OMG if you haven't made some of these, you must give them a try...you don't bust much stash...but you can start and finish all in the same day...no UFO's...we sure had fun making these Carrie....Thanks so much.

I won a drawing over at Nan's blog and I got the most wonderful package in the mail...look at all those patterns, awesome charm packs and the cutest Mary E journal...thanks Nan...that was wonderful, wonderful mail. I've been sewing...I've been getting some BOM's caught up, I did 5 more pillowcases for my friend Jami, and some 3" star blocks for Judie's Tribute by Carol Hopkins/Civil War Legacy pattern...these are just so darn cute...I love doing them...but not much stash busting there either...LOL!

OH! I almost forgot...a low calorie dessert recipe from Jeanne...she made this for us and I'm telling you it is YUMMY!

Lemon Fluff Pie
Small box Sugar Free Lemon Jello
6 oz. container fat free lemon yogurt
8 oz. light Cool Whip
10" graham cracker crust

In a large bowl dissolve lemon jello in 1 cup hot water (she heated it in the microwave)...after it is dissolved add 1/2 cup cool water. Refrigerate for 40 minutes (no more-no less)
Fold in yogurt and Cool Whip. Pour in crust and refrigerate overnight.

Trust me...it is delish!

I cut out 5 more pillowcases for my friend Jami and planned on getting them sewn today...didn't happen...but I'm going to report it anyway, I got them all pinned together and ready to sew, so I'm committed.

I'm still eating well, no cheating...I'm at the gym working out 3 days a week and walking 3 days a week...I'm feeling good and my clothes are fitting way better...so I'm not too upset. I'm sticking with it!

Stash Report Week 6

It's been a pretty productive week...got the baby quilt top done and put the back together, I got 1 soldier quilt top done and ready to go to my friend Jami and I made a dog bed for the shelter...1 yard of fabric for the outside cover and a couple month's a trimmings off of blocks, from straightening fabric, the dog ears off half square triangles. The shelter loves them because they're all cotton and they can be washed and dried a million times and they usually send them home with the dogs when they get adopted...I can make more.

One Done

The first of the baby quilts that need to be done by May got done today...not all the way done, but the top is done and it's ready to go to Jami to be quilted...I'm hoping that I'll have the second top done when it's time to pick this one up. This one is for a couple that used to work for Andy...is a jelly roll and a half...and the back is going to be one of the blue prints...I couldn't get a really good picture of the whole top...so here's a little bit of it hanging over my ironing board...please don't look under and around the quilt...it's a mess under there.
I think I'll cut out the top for our "Little Miss'" quilt tomorrow. I'm on a roll.

It's a Wonderful Monday Even If...

It's a wonderful Monday, even if I am a LOSER! It's wonderful because our Steelers won! It was a nail biter and a really good game! The Cardinals were tough! And I'm a loser...I was very well behaved yesterday...Andy wanted Chili Cheese dip...nothing good in that...can of Chili with No Beans and a big hunk of Velvetta...served with Frito Scoops...I didn't eat a single Frito, I did have a couple of my favorite Baked Tostito Scoops with a little of his dip...we got wings for the game and I just ate a few...I can control myself...so my big result...down .5 pounds...again, not a lot but continuing to go in the right direction.

Our assignment for this week was to post a salad recipe. I'm going to share a salad that I love...it's from Hungry Girl...I love her...great hints!

Hungry Girl Special

3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
3 ounces cooked skinless, boneless lean chicken breast, chopped
1 Roma tomato, chopped
1/2 cup medium cucumber, seeded and chopped
1/4 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup canned beets, drained and chopped
2 tablespoons canned sweet corn kernals
2 tablespoons chopped red onions
2 tablespoons canned garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
2 tablespoons reduced-fat Parmesan-style grated topping

Place all ingredients in a bowl and toss well to mix...ENJOY!
